I dreamed that life was joy. I woke to find that life is service. I discovered that service is joy.

Chile has just elected its first female president Michelle Bachelet by 54% of the votes.

After Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who is taking office today after she won 59% of the votes in the presidential run in African Liberia, and Angela Merkel, the first female German chancellor, we once again see a woman taking power. So we've got Europe, Africa and South-America now. I'm sure this trend will keep on spreading.

It's more than just a trend of course. Call it evolution. Integration. Balance. I know this new brand of women in power is going to bring us closer to transforming "power over" into "power with".

Bachelet for example, Chile's new president, is an agnostic single mother in a male-dominated, Catholic society. When I read this I think "Isn't she exactly who Chile needs then?" President Bachelet as well as President Johnson-Sirleaf have spent time in prison as political prisoners. Looks like the spirit of Mandela is on the rise.
